CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago businessman Willie Wilson has announced this morning he’s taking on Hillary Clinton and other Democrats in a bid to be president.

WBBM’s Nancy Harty reports there was no big ballroom, no balloons or band, just a couple dozen supporters at a South Side church waiving signs that read, “We Still Believe” cheering on Willie Wilson as he threw his hat into the ring.

The millionaire says as president, he would focus on America first.

“I believe we can recover billions of billions of dollars from foreign aid and give a portion of it to rebuilding Ferguson, rebuilding Baltimore instead of rebuilding Baghdad,” Wilson said.

Wilson says he speaks for the common man and would use his business expertise to put America back on top.

Wilson pledges to reform the criminal justice and education systems.

As for why his second foray into politics is for the highest position in the country, he says “I wasn’t brought here to start at the bottom.”

A campaign spokesman says Wilson will head to Iowa on Wednesday and plans to visit early primary states like New Hampshire and South Carolina.
