CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 19-year-old man escaped from a juvenile detention center in west suburban St. Charles late Monday night.

Denzell Walker escaped the medium-security Illinois Youth Center, at 3825 Campton Hills Dr., around 10 p.m., according to the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice.

Walker had been returned to the facility on Thursday for violating parole by being charged with burglary.

He was described as a 5-foot-11, 140-pound African-American man, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a blue jumpsuit at the time of his escape.
The Kane County Sheriff's Department was assisting in the search by providing a K-9 unit, according to Lt. Pat Gengler. The St. Charles Police Department, the DuPage County Sheriff's office, Illinois State Police, and the Illinois Department of Corrections' apprehension unit also were assisting in the search.
