3 Killed, 8 Wounded In Shootings Since Thursday Afternoon

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Three men were killed and at least eight other people were wounded in shootings across Chicago between Thursday afternoon and early Friday, police said.

The most recent fatal shooting was early Friday in the Bronzeville neighborhood.

About 1 a.m. Friday, a 38-year-old man was shot in the chest and abdomen in the 4200 block of South Calumet Avenue, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County medical examiner's office did not confirm the death early Friday.

Fifteen minutes earlier, a 23-year-old man was shot to death in an apartment in the O'Hare neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The man was shot several times about 12:45 a.m. following an altercation with another man, 22, inside an apartment complex in the 8500 block of West Bryn Mawr, according to police at the scene.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and the other man was taken into custody, police said. The deceased man's identity was also not released early Friday.

Thursday afternoon, a 26-year-old man was shot in the head and neck in the 3500 block of South Western Avenue, in the McKinley Park neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The medical examiner's office also did not confirm the death.

Three people were injured in a shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side early Friday.

About 1:10 a.m., someone fired shots at a car in the southbound lanes near 57th Street, Illinois State Police said.

At least three of the occupants were hurt, and the driver drove to St. Bernard Hospital, where they were treated for "non-life-threatening injuries," police said.

One lane was open between 43rd and 59th streets, but all lanes were reopened about 4:25 a.m., police said.

At least five other people were wounded in shootings between 3:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Thursday.
