(STMW) — A 5-year-old girl was fatally struck by a car Saturday afternoon in northwest suburban Hoffman Estates.

Aleeza Haq was found by rescue crews on Thacker Street east of Illinois Boulevard about 12:30 p.m., according to Hoffman Estates police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police said the girl was found not conscious and not breathing.

Aleeza, of the 1700 block of English Drive in Glendale Heights, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where she was pronounced dead at 6:18 p.m., police said.

The 52-year-old driver, from Hoffman Estates, was not injured in the crash and no citations have been issued, police said.

The Hoffman Estates police traffic crash investigation team are investigating.
