Report: Cubs Sign 1st-Round Pick Ian Happ
(CBS) The Cubs have signed 2015 first-round draft pick Ian Happ, according to MLB.com's Jim Callis.
Happ signed for a $3 million bonus, Callis reported, which is below the ninth overall slot value of $3.35 million, which allows the Cubs a little more money to help sign other picks.
An outfielder out of Cincinnati who may also have a future as an infielder, Happ batted .369 with 14 homers, 18 doubles, 44 RBIs and 47 runs in 56 games for the Bearcats in 2015. His on-base percentage was .492.
Happ confirmed the signing on Twitter, saying he'll report to Arizona first.
