Three Men Arrested For Crimes Related To Blackhawks Celebration
(STMW) -- Three men appeared in court on charges Tuesday related to the Stanley Cup celebration, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Two of the men were arrested for their alleged antics during the Stanley Cup celebration in Wrigleyville Monday night.
Matthew Torres, 21, is facing aggravated battery charges, allegedly for choking a Chicago Police officer, Cook County prosecutors said.
Torres, a server at a Chicago-area Flat Top Grill, is accused of putting his arm around the neck of the officer as the officer tried to apprehend a man who had just climbed down from a light pole in the 3400 block of North Clark, Assistant State's Attorney Lorraine Scaduto said.
The officer pulled Torres down to the ground before Torres' was arrested, authorities said. The officer suffered lacerations to his shins as the result of his interaction with Torres, of the 400 block of West Diversey.
Judge James Brown ordered Torres held in lieu of $50,000 bail Tuesday.
Another man, Jameel Wesley, 20, of Hillside, was charged with criminal damage to property for allegedly throwing a glass bottle at an unmarked squad car in the 3500 block of North Southport on Monday night.
Wesley's actions led to a 4-inch dent on the right-hand side of the driver's side of the car, which had its emergency lights and sirens on at the time of the incident, Scaduto said.
Wesley was ordered held in lieu of $10,000 bail Tuesday.
Darrell Burton also appeared in court, for allegedly trying to sell fake tickets for Monday night's Blackhawks game.
Burton, 48, of the 5900 block of South Paulina Street, tried to sell the phony tickets to different people for $1,250 and $2,000, authorities said.
Burton was ordered held in lieu of $25,000 bail on forgery charges.
Burton is an electrician, according to his arrest report.
