Rev. Jackson: Little Difference Between Charleston Shooting Suspect, ISIS

(CBS) -- Outrage is being voiced over the Charleston shootings at this weekend's annual Rainbow/PUSH convention on the South Side.

Rainbow/PUSH delegates ask who educated Dylann Roof and what kind of father would want to see his troubled son armed.

U.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.) wants to outlaw the use, possession or ownership of guns by the mentally ill but is not sure Congress will be willing to move.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson said he sees little difference between Roof and ISIS extremists.

"This cold, calculated political assassination has deep roots in that state," he said.

Jackson said Roof is a "terrorist" and wants him tried under federal domestic terrorism laws, even though South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is already pushing for the death penalty in state courts.
