Thieves Hit Gold Coast Art Fair Tents Overnight

(CBS) -- The Gold Coast Art Fest had some unwanted visitors during the overnight hours: thieves.

Vendors say some 30 booths were hit overnight, but it may not have been the take home the crooks had hoped for.

While some of tents were picked through there wasn't much taken. That's because most vendors just left change and made sure to take home their most expensive items.

"Pretty much everyone got hit," said vendor Dephine Ponteux.

"They took a five hundred dollar mountain bike that we had and quite honestly it was probably the best thing that could have happened to us," said Brad Cornelias.

Cornelias felt grateful that his artwork was untouched, saying a mountain bike can be replaced.

So far there have been no arrests.
