Court Worker Accused Of Trading Community Service Hours For Sex

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Lake County court worker has been indicted on felony charges, after allegedly letting people avoid court-ordered community service in exchange for sex.

The Lake County Sheriff's Department said 44-year-old Anselmo Magana was accepting cash and sex in exchange for falsely certifying people on probation had performed court-ordered community service hours.

Magana, of Lindenhurst, has been indicted on 11 counts of official misconduct.

The sheriff's office said an internal investigation launched in January 2014 pointed to potential criminal conduct, so the case was handed over to detectives, who interviewed several people before charges were approved on Wednesday.

Officials have not said how many times Magana is suspected of having helped people skip out on court-ordered community service.

Magana was arrested at work, and was being held at the Lake County Jail on $250,000 bail.
