Morris Hospital Staff Rally Around Tornado Victim

(CBS) -- Workers at Morris Hospital gave more than medical help to a woman who lost her home to the tornadoes Monday night.

A woman who came into the far southwest suburban hospital the day after the tornadoes rolled through asked for a pair of scrubs to wear.

That was the first hint to nursing assistant Lindsay Bleifield that the patient, named Brenda, needed more than just help with her wounds.

After learning Brenda lost her Braidwood home to the tornado, Bleifield took up a collection from her co-workers that netted more than $200.

She used the money to buy the woman three outfits at a nearby Walmart, plus a gift card.

Bleifield says Brenda cried and hugged the employees after they presented the gifts to her.

A hospital spokeswoman says many employees suffered tornado damage themselves or know people who did.

Bleifield says it felt really good to do something for someone affected by the storms.
