(STMW) — A 52-year-old man police described as “transient” is behind bars Friday after he was charged with the sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in west suburban Batavia.

Jay Davies, whose address is unknown, is charged with two counts each of criminal sexual assault by use of threat or force; and aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim 13-17, according to Batavia police. He was ordered held in the Kane County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

The victim’s parents notified police Thursday of the incident, which occurred at the girl’s home late Wednesday night or Thursday morning, according to a statement from police.

Davies was taken into custody about 2 p.m., and after being questioned by police and the Kane County Child Advocacy Center, was charged, police said.

Police are investigating to find out if there are other victims. Anyone with information should call Deputy Chief Glenn Autenrieth at (630) 454-250, or the child advocacy center at (630) 208-5160.
