Hot And Humid Start For Monday, With P.M. Storms Likely

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Another hot and humid day in Chicago likely will also see scattered showers and thunderstorms by the afternoon on Monday, and more storms could hit the area Tuesday and Wednesday.

Temperatures were again expected to reach as high as 90 by the afternoon, with humidity levels in the 50 to 60 percent range even before any rain hits. While temperatures should cool somewhat as the storms hit, the low overnight probably will still be in the low to mid 70s.

According to the National Weather Service, isolated and scattered storms could produce gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours when they arrive Monday afternoon and evening.

The Chicago area likely will see scattered showers starting between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., before a second line of showers and storms blows through around 7 p.m. While there's not much chance of severe weather from Monday's storms, there's a better chance of severe weather on Tuesday.

There's another chance of showers and storms on Wednesday morning, when temperatures will be about 10 degrees cooler than Monday.

The rest of the week should be clear after Wednesday morning.

Thursday's high likely won't hit 80 degrees, and then Friday probably will get only slightly higher than 80, before another hot and humid weekend, with highs in the mid to upper 80s on Saturday and Sunday.
