(STMW) -- A train fatally struck a 34-year-old man last week in southwest suburban Wilmington.

Steven. D. Harden II was the driver of a vehicle that was struck by the train Wednesday, Sept. 2, at North 1st Street and Railroad Street, according to the Will County coroner's office.

Harden, of Wilmington, was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, where he was pronounced dead at 10:47 p.m., the coroner's office said.

An autopsy showed preliminary results of multiple injuries he suffered in the crash, but the final cause and manner of death are pending police, autopsy and toxicology reports, the coroner's office said. Wilmington police are investigating.
