Cubs Activate OF Jorge Soler

(CBS) The Cubs activated outfielder Jorge Soler prior to Thursday afternoon's contest against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Soler will be available Thursday after being on the disabled list since Aug. 24 with a left oblique strain. He recently went 3-of-13 in four rehab games at Single-A Myrtle Beach.

With the Cubs, Soler is batting .265 with seven homers and 42 RBIs in 90 games. It's unclear what his role may be moving forward, as rookie Kris Bryant has handled spot duty in right field well in in Soler's absence. That opens up an infield spot for Javier Baez, whom manager Joe Maddon has been pleased with.
