Man Hit, Killed By Vehicle On Eisenhower Expressway

(STMW) -- A man was fatally struck by a vehicle on the Eisenhower Expressway on the West Side early Saturday.

The vehicle hit the pedestrian about 4 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-290 near Western, according to Illinois State Police. The driver did not stop immediately after the crash, but stopped a short time later near Homan.

The pedestrian, a 41-year-old man, was killed, state police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the man's death but was not releasing his identity pending notification of his family.

A car with heavy damage to its front end and windshield could be seen near the scene as police investigated.

Charges against the driver are pending, state police said.
