Durkin: Week 5 NFL Picks

By Dan Durkin--

(CBS) Hard to believe it, but the NFL season is already a quarter complete. Six teams remain unbeaten and only one team remains winless.

Here's my take on how this weekend's action plays out.

(Home team in all CAPS)

Jaguars 23, BUCS 20 -- noon

The Jaguars' run defense has been strong all year and will make the Bucs one-dimensional and put the game into the hands of a struggling Jameis Winston, whose seven interceptions are tied for the most of the league. Expect a few more as the Jags steal one in Tampa Bay.

Bills 24, TITANS 23 -- noon

The Bills' offense is hobbled right now, missing their top receiver and top two running backs. Even so, Rex Ryan will create a lot of pre-snap confusion for rookie Marcus Mariota.

RAVENS 27, Browns 17 -- noon

The Ravens have surely put former Steelers kicker Josh Scobee on their holiday card list after his wayward right leg allowed them to nab their first win of the season. Baltimore also found its running game in Pittsburgh and will use it again against a Cleveland defense that opposing run games have used as a doormat this season.

FALCONS 34, Redskins 20 -- noon

Dan Quinn has the Falcons playing fast and confident on both sides of the football. The Redskins' vulnerable secondary will be exploited by Julio Jones early and often as the surprising Falcons extend their record to 5-0.

CHIEFS 27, Bears 24 -- noon

Neither of these teams defend the pass well, so this game will come down to who can keep its quarterback clean in the pocket. The Bears' offensive line woes will catch up with them against a strong Chiefs pass rush.

EAGLES 31, Saints 20 -- noon

Two underachieving, one-win teams square off in Philadelphia. It's still early, but both of these team's seasons could be on the brink. Drew Brees is clearly not healthy, and it's limiting the Saints offense. Sam Bradford should find little resistance against the New Orleans secondary.

PACKERS 30, Rams 20 -- noon

The Rams' defensive front will pose a stiff test for the Packers' juggernaut offense. But Aaron Rodgers has thrown 48 touchdowns since his last interception at Lambeau. Look for that number to hit 50-plus this weekend.

Seahawks 24, BENGALS 23  -- noon

The Bengals are off to a strong start, and Andy Dalton is playing as well as he has in his career. However, Seattle's defense is getting back to form. This game will be decided by turnovers, and I like the Seahawks.

Cardinals 27, LIONS 23 -- 3:05 p.m.

Detroit is still reeling for a late call that didn't go their way in Seattle that left them 0-4. The Cardinals suffered their first loss last week to the Rams but will rebound in Motown against a generous Lions pass defense.

Patriots 34, COWBOYS 20 -- 3:25 p.m.

The Cowboys are banged up, while the Patriots have had an extra week to prepare for this game. Tom Brady and the Patriots will outpace the Cowboys, and this game will get ugly.

Broncos 30, RAIDERS 17 -- 3:25 p.m.

Denver's defense is at the top of the NFL food chain. The Bears were able to limit Amari Cooper with less talented players, so Wade Phillips will replicate the plan as the Broncos pick up their second division win.

GIANTS 27, 49ers 16 -- 7:30 p.m.

The 49ers are a miserable mess on offense. The Giants run defense is stellar and will put the game on Colin Kaepernick's unpredictable right shoulder. The results won't be pretty for the free-falling 49ers.

CHARGERS 28, Steelers 23 -- 7:30 p.m. Monday night

The Steelers have had more time to prepare for this game, but they still don't have Ben Roethlisberger. Philip Rivers should find a lot of holes in the Steelers secondary as the Chargers win at home.

Season record through Week 4: 41-23 (Last week: 11-5)
