South Side Bar To Give Out Free (Or Cheap) Beer Every Time Cubs Allow A Homer To Cardinals

(CBS) Not everybody in Chicago has fallen head over heels for the Cubs ahead of their NLDS matchup against the Cardinals.

McNally's, a bar on the Southwest Side in Morgan Park, is offering "free beer" to customers every time the Cardinals hit a homer in their series against the Cubs, according to one side of its marquee and as first reported by DNAinfo.com. It also taunted the Cubs with the question of "Cubs fans whos gonna pitch now?" It was a reference to Cy Young contender Jake Arrieta not being able to pitch until Game 3 of the NLDS.

Of the Cardinals' 10 home runs against the Cubs in 19 games this season, four of them came in the month of September, when the teams played six games. Players to watch: Matt Reynolds, Matt Carpenter and Jhonny Peralta, who hit two homers each against the Cubs.

So, at that rate, you might be lucky if you get one beer out of the deal on a random night.

The offer and marquee has gained plenty of national attention on social media.

A bar manager did tell the Chicago Tribune that the establishment can't legally give away free beer, but it will be cheap after the Cubs allow homers.

Game 1 between the Cubs and Cardinals is Friday evening.
