CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago Police have announced two suspects have been charged in the murders of three people last month on the city’s South Side, reports WBBM’s Mike Krauser.

Police say that 20-year-old Anthony Jackson of the 4500 block of South Drexel and 22-year-old Lawrence Brown of the 3700 block of South Wells were responsible for the September 29 shooting on the 300 block of West 42nd Street where three died and two others were injured.

The victims had been among about 30 people attending a memorial barbecue in a park for a friend who died in a car crash. Witnesses said shots were fired at the group from an alley.

22-year-old Ayanna Northern, 25-year-old Antian Hardmon and 28-year-old Tyrone Spikes were killed.

The offenders took off in van and police say Area Central detectives tracked them down and arrested the two, now facing numerous charges including first degree murder.
