Cubs' Kris Bryant Named Sportings News' NL Rookie Of The Year

(CBS) Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant has been named The Sporting News' National League Rookie of the Year, as voted on by a panel of 167 players in the NL.

Bryant received 127 first-place votes. Giants third baseman Matt Duffy drew 22 first-place votes, while no other rookie had more than five.

Bryant led all MLB rookies in many major statistical categories, including RBIs (99) and run scored (87). His 26 homers were also tied for the most among rookies along with Dodgers outfielder Joc Pederson. Bryant's .369 on-base percentage was second among rookies who had more than 100 at-bats.

Bryant hit .275 with am .858 OPS. He played in 151 games.
