10 Shot Overnight In Chicago
CHICAGO (STMW) -- At least 10 people were wounded in shootings across Chicago between Thursday night and early Friday.
A man and two women were in a vehicle at a stop sign in the 1500 block of West Morse when shots were fired, according to Chicago Police. All three were struck in the back.
They tried to drive to Presence Saint Francis Hospital when the car hit a female pedestrian in Evanston's 400 block of Austin Street, police said.
The 26-year-old man and women, ages 22 and 30, were listed in serious condition, police said. Hospital information for the pedestrian wasn't immediately available.
The most recent shooting occurred in the Austin neighborhood.
About 5 a.m., the male — whose age was known — was shot in the leg in the 5400 block of West Adams, police News Affairs Officer Ana Pacheco said, citing preliminary information. Further details were not available Friday morning.
An hour earlier, a male was shot in the hip in the 9900 block of South State in the Roseland neighborhood. His hospital information was not immediately known.
About 3:45 a.m., a female walked into Swedish Covenant Hospital with a gunshot wound to her arm, police said. She told investigators she was shot near the intersection of Lawrence and California in the Lincoln Square neighborhood, but further details were not available Friday morning.
About 12:40 a.m., a man was shot while driving in the Edgewater Beach neighborhood on the North Side.
The 37-year-old was sitting in a pickup truck at a red light in the 5600 block of North Winthrop about 12:40 a.m. when he heard shots and felt pain, according to police. The man was shot in the neck and suffered a graze wound to the head. He took himself to Weiss Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
Two men were in a can driving southbound in the 7400 block of South Lafayette in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood about 10:40 p.m. when a male in a black SUV pulled up alongside and shot them both, police said.
One man, 21, suffered a graze wound to his chin, while the other man, 20, suffered a graze wound to the right side of his head, police said. The men took themselves to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where their conditions had both stabilized.
Thursday night's first shooting occurred about 8:55 p.m. in the Riverdale neighborhood on the Far South Side.
A 35-year-old man was shot multiple times in the Riverdale neighborhood on the Far South Side Thursday night.
He was standing on a porch in the 13200 block of South Ellis Avenue when four males got out of a tan car and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said.
The four shooters fled in the car to the Bishop Ford freeway (I-94), where they crashed. Police have one suspect in custody.
