CPD Offers Halloween Safety Tips For Trick-Or-Treaters
(CBS) -- Ghosts, ghouls and goblins of all ages are pounding the pavement for candy and CBS 2's Jeremy Ross reports on some advice police are tossing into their goodie bags.
Police are reminding parents and young trick or treaters to attend sponsored supervised events. Those include events held at community centers, churches or schools are other good suggestions as well.
Police say if you're out trick-or-treating make sure to do so during daylight hours and in familiar neighborhoods. Parents or guardians should be with their kids at all times.
Accept sealed or wrapped treats only. All goodies should be inspected by an adult before allowing children to indulge in that sugar rush.
CPD adds one costume tip: light colored garb or spooks with reflective markings can help drivers better see trick or treaters.
Police are also reminding drivers to be on alert today. They have also asked stores not to sell eggs to kids in order to cut down on potential for vandalism. Officers are warning homeowners to report any signs of vandalism that can occur during the Halloween holiday.
