Gliniewicz Charity Auction Organizer Wants Family To Donate Funds Raised

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The owner of a west suburban sports memorabilia business says he feels sick to his stomach about a charity auction he held for the family of Fox Lake police officer Joseph Gliniewicz.

Dwayne Richter said he organized the auction to help the family with expenses, at the time because it was believed Gliniewicz died in the line of duty.

Investigators on Wednesday said the officer committed an elaborate suicide, apparently overcome by stress of a investigation that appeared to find Gliniewicz was stealing money.

Richter from Affordable Sports Memorabilia in Melrose Park tells WBBM's Dave Berner that doesn't want the money back.

He just wants the family to donate the $3,500 raised at the event to charity.
