Reward For Information In 9-Year-Old Boy's Murder Grows To Over $54,000

(CBS) -- The reward for information leading to an arrest in the murder of a nine-year-old boy in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood last Monday has grown to $54,600.

Tyshawn Lee was shot multiple times in an alley near 80th Street and Damen Avenue. Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said that Lee was lured into the alley and executed.

WBBM Newsradio spoke with Rev. Michael Pfleger Saturday who says the community will not be safe until the person responsible for killing nine-year-old Tyshawn Lee, is arrested.

"A person who will kill a nine-year-old child will not only kill again, but will kill anyone," he said.

Rev. Pfleger said that although there is speculation involving Tyshawn's father cooperating with police investigation, he believes the father doesn't know what actually happened.

"There is no evidence yet to determine who exactly has done something," he said. "I don't know what kind of cooperation is or is not happening but I do know that he does not know who did it himself."
