9 Wounded In Chicago Shootings Tuesday
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Nine people were wounded, two of them seriously, in shootings Tuesday across Chicago.
Most recently, a man was shot in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.
The 45-year-old was driving in the 4500 block of West Lake about 10:10 p.m. when someone in an SUV shot him in the left arm, according to Chicago Police. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized.
Earlier Tuesday evening, a 56-year-old woman was shot in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
The woman was sitting on the front porch of a home in the 6700 block of South Parnell at 6:35 p.m. when shots were fired and she was struck, according to police. She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where her condition stabilized.
Police said she wasn't the intended target of the shooting.
About 20 minutes earlier, a man who was shot during a South Austin attempted robbery walked into a Near West Side hospital.
The 26-year-old walked into Rush University Medical Center with gunshot wounds to his chest and arm about 6:15 p.m., police said. He was later transferred to Stroger Hospital, and his condition was stabilized.
He was shot during a robbery attempt in the 200 block of North Laramie, according to police.
A short time before that, a man was hurt in a drive-by shooting in the West Side Humboldt Park neighborhood.
The 38-year-old man was walking in the 1100 block of North Hamlin shortly before 6 p.m. when someone in a passing vehicle started shooting, police said. He was struck in the groin and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
Earlier Tuesday afternoon, three men were shot in the Austin neighborhood, leaving two in serious condition.
Two of the men, ages 21 and 39, were standing on the southwest corner of Lamon and Rice about 3:30 p.m. when a black SUV pulled up and someone inside started shooting, according to police. The younger man was shot in the arm and leg, and the older man suffered a gunshot wound to the hand.
A 23-year-old man who was standing on the southeast corner was shot in the chest. He wasn't an intended target, police said.
The two younger men were taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. The 39-year-old was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park in good condition.
Investigators think the shooting was gang-related.
Tuesday's first shooting happened in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.
Two men, ages 21 and 35, were standing near a vehicle in the 0-100 block of West 114th Street at 11:00 a.m. when a gold car pulled up and someone inside opened fire, police said. Both men were shot once in the upper leg and taken to Christ Medical Center, where their conditions were stabilized.
Police said both victims are documented gang members.
