Algonquin Air Force Veteran Searching For Missing Husky

ALGONQUIN, Ill. (CBS) -- A veteran is in need of help, in search of his best friend, his dog. But he has found help in the search on this Veterans Day, reports CBS 2's Brad Edwards.

Former Air Force Lieutenant and pilot Armand Ravizza's husky Kody has gone AWOL. The picture-perfect husky got through a fence in September.

"They forget how to get home and then they're in trouble," Ravizza said.

Kerry Siversten of Lost Dogs Illinois heard about it online and jumped to help. Siversten says she flooded the area with flyers, created a "Bring Kody Home" Facebook page and even used a scent dog and drones in the search.

"Any lead that we can get, we are following," she said. "I have a lot of hope. Kody's coming home. We're going to find Kody and we're going to bring him home"

They've had some recent sightings. Kody is microchipped but didn't have a collar on. His best bud, a lab named Shadow, knows something is amiss.

Ravizza says Kody will, "walk up to you and he'll love you. He'll jump right in this chair right here and watch TV."

His chair in Algonquin is waiting for his return.

Kody weights about 50 pounds and has two blue eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call (847) 830-2992 or (847) 337-5059.
