10-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Shot By 8-Year-Old Brother

CHICAGO (CBS) -- An 8-year-old boy accidentally shot his 10-year-old brother in the side Thursday morning in the Brainerd neighborhood.

Police said the shooting happened around 9 a.m. in the 9000 block of South Bishop Street. CBS 2's Mike Parker say the siblings live there with their grandmother.

A relative drove the 10-year-old boy, who was shot in the side, to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park. The boy was transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in guarded condition.

The shooting appeared to be accidental, according to police. They continue to investigate.
