Running back Matt Forte (knee), receiver Alshon Jeffery (groin, shoulder) safety Antrel Rolle (knee/ankle) and linebacker Pernell McPhee (knee) are all questionable for Sunday’s game, while receiver Eddie Royal (knee) has been ruled out.
Forte has missed the Bears’ last two games, both wins, with an MCL sprain. On Thursday, he sat out and got treatment while the team practiced on the hard turf field of the Walter Payton Center. For Friday’s practice, he was back on the field.
If Forte can’t play, it will be rookie Jeremy Langford likely to take the majority of carries for a third straight game. A jovial Forte spoke Thursday of how fans have reacted to Langford’s rise.
“The NFL is what have you done for me lately,” Forte said Thursday. “It’s whatever is done next. I’ve obviously been out for a few games, and (Langford has) done his job, done well stepping in for me. Everybody is looking for the next-best thing.”READ MORE: Chicago Weather: Slight Warm Up Overnight, Lake Effect Snow Returns
The Bears have listed Jeffery as limited throughout the week of work. He suffered a groin “tweak” last week in practice, prior to the game in St. Louis, but he managed to play through the injury, recording three catches for 23 yards. Now, he has a shoulder injury, too.
McPhee has dealt with his knee injury for much of the season, missing his first game last Sunday against the Rams. He is a game-time decision this week, with the doctors making that decision.
“(John Fox) and the training staff, they know what they’re doing,” McPhee said. “I’m going to let them answer the questions. Right now, I’m feeling good — I’m feeling great.”
Additionally, the Bears listed linebacker Shea McClellin (knee) as questionable and center Hroniss Grasu (neck) as probable. The team also updated the status of safety Antrel Rolle on Saturday, downgrading him from probable with an ankle injury to questionable with an ankle/knee injury.
The Bears (4-5) and Broncos (7-2) kick off at noon on Sunday at Soldier Field.MORE NEWS: Ald. Carrie Austin Thanks City Council, Mayor For Support After Her Collapse At December Meeting
