(STMW) — A woman was fatally struck by a trolley car in the Loop Saturday morning.

At 10:25 a.m., the woman, 42, was struck while walking in a crosswalk near Michigan Avenue and Monroe Street, according to Chicago Police.

She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The woman’s name was not released Sunday morning pending notification of her family, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The 49-year-old woman driving the trolley was issued a citation for striking a pedestrian in a crosswalk, police said.
