(STMW) — A car crashed through the front window of a mattress store in north suburban Skokie late Monday afternoon.

About 4:15 p.m., the car went off the roadway, through the glass and about 30 feet into the Mattress Firm store at 9410 Skokie Blvd., Skokie Fire Dept. Capt. Jeff Hoeflich told reporters at the scene.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for evaluation, he said. No one inside the store was hurt.

“Fortunately no one was in that area of the store,” Hoeflich said.
