Former Lynwood Police Officer Charged With Punching Handcuffed Man In 2013
(CBS) -- It has been more than two years since authorities say a Lynwood police officer punched a handcuffed suspect in the face - and now State's Attorney Anita Alvarez has announced charges against the officer.
The beating of a handcuffed man, Randolph Holmes, at the Lynwood police station in September 2013 was captured on camera. Holmes was knocked unconscious and his nose was broken.

Brandin Fredericksen, who is 32 now, has been fired from his job as a Lynwood police officer. Holmes was awarded a $500,000 settlement with the village.
Earlier this month, the CBS 2 Investigator Pam Zekman and the Better Government Association reported that State's Attorney Alvarez's office had the surveillance video soon after the incident more than two years ago.
Now she has filed charges against Fredericksen: aggravated battery and official misconduct.
Alvarez has already been targeted by protesters who want her to resign because she took more than a year to charge a Chicago police officer in the shooting death of Laquan McDonald.
