Two Teens Charged With North Side RObberies
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two teenage boys from the South Side were charged after police said they robbed several people on the North Side.
The 17-year-old boys each were charged with eight counts of aggravated armed robbery and aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle, according to Chicago Police.
Area Central and Area North detectives were conducting a covert operation monitoring a white Jeep connected to several armed robberies and a carjacking when they spotted it on the Kennedy Expressway near Ohio at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, police said.
The Jeep later was seen in the 4900 block of South Prairie and officers chased them to the 5600 block of South Calumet, where they were arrested, police said.
Investigators say the robberies happened in the 17th, 19th and 20th police districts.
Police did not release their names because they are minors, but said one lives in the 4800 block of South Calumet and the other in the 6200 block of South Champlain.They were scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.
