(CBS) With the offseason upon them, the Bears signed nine players to reserve/futures contracts, they announced Monday.

Chicago signed cornerback De’Vante Bausby (Pittsburgh State), quarterback Matt Blanchard (Wisconsin-Whitewater), center Cornelius Edison (Portland State), linebacker Paul Lasike (BYU), receiver Marcus Lucas (Missouri), linebacker Danny Mason (Texas A&M-Commerce), receiver Nathan Palmer (Northern Illinois), tight end Gannon Sinclair (Missouri State) and guard Martin Wallace (Temple).

Those who sign futures contracts count against the salary cap and 90-man roster limit for the following season’s training camp, even though the new league year doesn’t start until March.
