Powerball Jackpot Grows To $500 Million

CHICAGO (CBS) -- With the jackpot for the next Powerball drawing ballooning to $500 million Wednesday morning, plenty of people are dreaming big about what they'd do with all that money.
The Illinois Lottery said the $500 million jackpot is the fourth largest Powerball jackpot ever, and sixth largest of any lottery jackpot in U.S. history.
"Retire, travel, and pay the college off. Oh yeah, I can find a lot of ways to spend it," said Gus Grubzak on his way to work Wednesday morning, when the jackpot still stood at $450 million.
Tara Samuels started with more practical dreams.
"The first thing, bills would be paid. That would be the best thing to go," she said. "No worries at all."
Wednesday's jackpot is the largest Powerball jackpot since February 11, 2015, when three winners split a $564.1 million pot.
