Man, 62, Found Murdered In Joliet Township

Joliet Township Scene Of Mysterious Death

(CBS) -- The murder of a 62-year-old Joliet Township man Thursday night is being called an "isolated incident" -- meaning the public at large is probably not in danger, says the Will County Sheriff's office.

The coroner says Robert J. Bielec died of blunt head trauma.

Robbery was probably not the motive, Will County Sheriff's Deputy Chief Richard Ackerson says.

He says the victim still had his wallet and his keys. He was found lying next to his car, with the car door open.

"We believe it's an isolated incident. Without naming any suspects … there have been issues with this individual and numerous other people in the neighborhood," Ackerson says.

The attack happened outside the victim's home in the 1700 block of Houston Avenue in Joliet Township.

Authorities say the man's female roommate heard the man having a conversation with someone and then heard a loud thumping noise just before 11 p.m.

Deputy Chief Ackerson says investigators are checking security cameras in the area for help in finding the killer.
