Man Charged With Fleeing After Cops Saw Him Vomiting Out Car Window
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Riverside Police have charged a Burbank man with one felony count of fleeing and evading police at over 107 mph.
Julian E. Martinez, 21, of the 7500 block of South Lockwood in Burbank, was charged with one felony count of aggravated fleeing and eluding, failure to signal, improper lane usage and speeding at 107 mph in a 50 mph zone, according to a statement from Riverside Police.
Martinez was pulled over at 2:05 a.m. Wednesday in the area of First and Parkview avenues after an officer saw him vomiting and throwing something out the window of a vehicle, police said. As the officer approached the Chevrolet SUV, Martinez suddenly fled southbound on First Avenue to Route 171 and eventually onto I-55.
The officer stopped chasing Martinez after he reached 107 mph, police said.
Around 3:05 a.m., Burr Ridge Police saw Martinez drive off the road and into a grassy ravine near I-55 and Route 83, police said. He then fled on foot but was apprehended by Burr Ridge and DuPage County Sheriff's Police.
Police later learned that Martinez fled because he thought he had a warrant out for his arrest even though there was no active warrant for him, police said.
The passengers in the vehicle with Martinez were not charged, police said.
Court information on Martinez was not available early Friday.
