Man, Toddler Hospitalized After Elk Grove House Fire

(CBS) -- A man and a two-year-old boy were hospitalized for smoke inhalation after a house fire in Elk Grove Sunday morning, according to the Elk Grove Fire Department.

Fire crews were dispatched at 8:18 a.m. for the fire in the 500 block of Walnut Lane for a fire that started in a garage.

The man and two-year-old were transported to Alexian Brother Medical Center and smoke inhalation.

The fire department says a couple of dogs were burned and had smoke inhalation, but are expected to be ok.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the fire department says it may have been caused by a space heater in the garage. A total of eight people were living in the home.
