Police: 1 Killed, 4 Wounded In Monday Shootings
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was killed and four other people were wounded in shootings Monday across Chicago.
The man was found shot to death in the street about 9:20 p.m. in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.
Officers responding to a call of a person shot found 21-year-old Ronell Andrews lying face down in the street in the 700 block of North Lavergne, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Andrews, who lived in the 600 block of North Lavergne, was shot several times in the chest and abdomen and was dead at the scene, authorities said.
The most recent nonfatal shooting happened about the same time in the Armour Square neighborhood on the South Side.
Three men were walking in the 3800 block of South Wells about 9:20 p.m. when someone in a passing white SUV shot them, police said. A 21-year-old man was shot several times in the left thigh and was listed in serious condition, police said. Another man, 38, was shot in the right hip and his condition had stabilized. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital. The third man, 25, suffered a graze wound to his left hip and refused medical treatment at the scene, police said.
Monday's first shooting happened about four hours earlier, when a 19-year-old man was wounded in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
The man was walking in the 3100 bock of South Kedvale Avenue about 5:15 p.m. when a dark-colored SUV pulled up and a passenger inside shot him in the left arm, according to police. He took himself to Saint Anthony Hospital, where he was listed in good condition. A police source said the victim is a documented gang member.
