(CBS) — A controversial professor at Wheaton College got a show of support Thursday, but it may not be enough for her to keep her job.
Prof. Larycia Hawkins stunned the administration last month when the Christian wore a hijab and proclaimed Muslims her friends. She said Muslims and Christians pray to the same god.
Administrators suspended Hawkins and started the firing process. But now the college’s 200-member faculty council is calling for her reinstatement process, CBS 2’s Mike Parker reports.
Still, the college president said the firing process will continue.
Hawkins could not be reached for comment.
