Two Teens Charged With Armed Robbery In Elgin

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two teenage boys have been charged with robbing a convenience store at gunpoint in northwest suburban Elgin.

The two, ages 15 and 16, robbed a convenience store in the 700 lock of Walnut Avenue around 7:50 p.m. on Jan. 25, according to a statement from Elgin police.

One of the boys entered the store wearing a mask, pulled out a gun and demanded money from the register, police said. The store clerk gave him an undisclosed amount of money.

Detectives were able to identify the two boys as the robbers, and charged each of them with one count of felony robbery and one count of felony aggravated robbery with a firearm, police said.

The names of the two were not released.

The boys are in custody at the Kane County Youth Home, police said.
