Airbnb Business Surges On Chicago's South Side
(CBS) -- The number of overnight home rentals on Chicago's South Side is skyrocketing, the home-sharing service Airbnb says.
South Side hosts generated $2.6 million in 2015, compared with $1.2 million the year before.
Alpha Brutin, an Airbnb host in Bronzeville, says there are only a handful of hotels on the South Side, and Airbnb is an affordable option. She's hosted people from around the world.
"It's close to downtown, and it's close to a lot of the museum campuses, it's close to the lake -- it's not far from our president's house," she says of her part of the city.
Brutin rents her loft for $45 a night during the week and $75 on weekends.
