Report: Cubs Sign Pitcher Manny Parra
(CBS) The Cubs have signed left-handed pitcher Manny Parra to a minor-league deal, according to Mark Gonzalez of the Chicago Tribune.
Parra, 33, joins Cubs spring training in Mesa, Arizona after posting a 3.90 ERA in 40 appearances with the Reds last season. He joins Aaron Crow as a recent addition to spring training and will compete with Travis Wood, Clayton Richard and Rex Brothers as a lefty specialist out of the bullpen.
Parra has played eight major league seasons, all within the NL Central -- five years with the Brewers and three with the Reds. He has a 29-41 career record with a 4.90 ERA.
Cubs pitchers and catchers reported to Arizona on Friday to officially begin spring training.
