Peaceful Demonstration Held In Thompson Center To Honor Those Killed By Chicago Police
CHICAGO (CBS) -- In the atrium of the Thompson Center, there was a peaceful demonstration this afternoon to honor the people whose loved ones say were murdered by the Chicago Police.
16-year-old Trevon Lawrence read a poem he wrote about his brother Darius Pinex, who was shot and killed by police in 2011.
"I'm holding on strong, trying to be a man. Why you had to leave me, I just don't understand," he said.
Prosecutors have been accused of hiding evidence in that case.
"Just continue to be strong. I know it's hard."

Janet Cooksey is the mother of 19-year-old Quintonio LeGrier, who died after he was shot by police in December.
"I know it's hard, but we have each other because we definitely don't have Chicago Police," she said. "We definitely don't have them."
Later, she talked about her son.
"It makes me so proud as a mother when I hear other people telling me who he was - he was the same person around his mother as he was around others - it lets me know that I had a good son."
Police have said Quintonio LeGrier was swinging a baseball bat when an officer shot him six times.
