Porter, 29, has re-signed with Chicago, he confirmed on his Twitter account. The deal is for three years and $16.5 million, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Porter had 38 tackles, a team-high 22 pass breakups plus an interception and forced fumble in a bounce-back 2015 season after an injury-plagued 2014. The interception proved to be a heroic play in the Bears’ win over the Packers on Thanksgiving in Green Bay. Chicago has also signed linebacker Danny Trevathan and tackle Bobby Massie off the free-agent marke while re-signing running back Jacquizz Rodgers and tackle Nick Becton.
