Sanders Berns Chicago Mayor: 'I Don't Want His Endorsement!'

(CBS) -- Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders stumped in the Chicago region Friday evening and apparently couldn't resist taking a poke at Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who is endorsing his opponent, Hillary Clinton.

"I want to thank Rahm Emanuel for not endorsing me -- I don't want his endorsement!" Sanders told an enthusiastic crowd at Argo Community High School in Summit.

Emanuel -- a former aide to President Bill Clinton -- has seen his political stock erode following police-shooting scandals in Chicago.

Hillary Clinton was expected to take her home state of Illinois in Tuesday's primary, but that didn't stop Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont, from spending time here. He pulled off an upset in Michigan earlier this week after polls suggested he would finish well behind the former U.S. Secretary of State.
