1 Killed, 7 Wounded In Tuesday Shootings Across Chicago

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 19-year-old man was killed and at least seven other people were wounded in separate shootings Tuesday across Chicago.

The man was shot to death while riding a bicycle about 9:30 a.m. in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

Cashes McCree was riding in the 1500 block of North Lockwood when two gunmen walked up and opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

McCree was shot multiple times in the torso, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:06 a.m., authorities said. He lived less than a mile away in the 900 block of North Lockwood.

Most recently, a man was shot Tuesday night in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The 19-year-old was walking on the sidewalk in the 12100 block of South Emerald about 9:55 p.m. when another male walked up and shot him in the upper right shoulder, police said. He took himself to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, where his condition had stabilized.

About 8:30 p.m., a 29-year-old man was injured in a drive-by shooting in Austin. He was standing outside in the 5900 block of West Augusta when someone shot him from a passing vehicle, police said. He suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and took himself to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, were his condition was stabilized.

Thirty minutes earlier, a 19-year-old man was shot in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood. He was fighting with someone in the 1400 block of East 66th Place about 8 p.m. when the other person pulled out a gun and shot him in the back, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

On Tuesday afternoon, a 22-year-old man was shot and critically wounded in the West Side Austin neighborhood. About 3:15 p.m., he was fighting with someone in the 500 block of North Laramie when the other person pulled out a gun and shot him in the abdomen and shoulder, police said. Family members drove the 22-year-old to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park and he later was transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

At 11:47 a.m., a 29-year-old man was shot in the left leg in the 1000 block of West Garfield on the South Side, police said. He was taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital.

Earlier Tuesday morning, a man suffered a gunshot wound to the head in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side. The 27-year-old walked into Roseland Community Hospital about 4:50 a.m. and told investigators he was shot in the 11500 block of South State, police said. He was transferred in good condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

In Tuesday's first shooting, a 23-year-old man was shot in the Albany Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side. He was driving in the 3100 block of West Carmen about 2:15 a.m., looking for a parking space, when a silver vehicle drove up and someone inside opened fire, police said. The man was shot in the left leg and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.
