One Dead In SRO Blaze That Injures Chicago Firefighter

(CBS) -- A Chicago firefighter was injured during a Friday evening blaze that left one person dead in the South Austin neighborhood, authorities said.

The fire occurred around 10 p.m. on the second floor of a "single room occupancy" building in the 300 block of North Central Avenue. The Chicago Fire Department reported on Twitter one civilian was dead.

During efforts to put out the fire, a firefighter was injured. No further information was immediately available.
