This Saturday, residents and emergency responders will be gathering to mark the one-year anniversary.

Bill Nichols has been a leader in the recovery mission over the past year. He says Saturday will be both a remembrance and a celebration.

"We will be doing a couple things at the very same time," he says. "One is very quietly remembering those people who lost their lives and the many more people who lost everything of importance to them in terms of physical things. So there will be a memorial sentiment and a celebration of the effort that has been out and is going to continue to be put out."

Nichols says 15 new homes have arisen from the rubble and 28 additional homes that had been demolished have been rebuilt and restored.
