(CBS) The Blackhawks have recalled forward Bryan Bickell from AHL Rockford, they announced Wednesday.
Bickell has two assists in 23 games in Chicago this season, which saw him fall completely out of coach Joel Quenneville’s favor because of unproductive play. He hasn’t played for the Blackhawks since Jan. 8.
Bickell was placed on waivers by the Blackhawks in November before initially being sent to Rockford. He was called back up in December before his mid-January return.
Chicago next plays Thursday against St. Louis at the United Center. The Blackhawks have just two regular-season games left before the start of the playoffs. They’re dealing with several injuries to regulars, so Bickell’s call-up could allow some players to rest and get ready for the postseason.
