Autopsies Reveal Grisly Details Of Gage Park Massacre, Report Says

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Investigators reportedly found a "bloody mess" inside the Gage Park home where six members of the same family were slain in February, according to detailed autopsy reports.

Autopsy reports for three of the victims were released to the Chicago Sun-Times, and revealed gruesome details of how they were beaten and stabbed to death. Reports for the other three victims have not yet been completed.

Meantime, police believe multiple killers were responsible for the massacre, because the victims were found in so many different rooms of the bungalow in the 5700 block of South California Avenue.

It was Feb. 4 when police discovered the bodies of 62-year-old Noe Martinez Sr.; his wife, 58-year-old Rosaura Martinez; their son, 38-year-old Noe Martinez Jr; their daughter 32-year-old Maria Herminia Martinez; and her two sons, 13-year-old Leonardo Cruz and 10-year-old Alexis Cruz.

A week after the slayings, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office announced autopsies had determined Martinez Sr. and the two boys were stabbed to death, his wife and son were beaten and stabbed to death, and his daughter was the only victim shot to death. At least three bladed weapons were used in the stabbings, according to police.

Full autopsy reports have been completed for Rosaura Martinez, Noe Martinez Jr., and Alexis Cruz. According to the Sun-Times, Rosaura had been stabbed multiple times in the abdomen, and slashed across the face and neck. She was found in a pool of blood on the back porch.

Her husband, Noe Sr., was found near the front door. Their older son, Leonardo was found on the living room floor, with his school supplies nearby.

Their younger son, Alexis, was found in the basement, next to a book bag and a binder of drawings. He had been stabbed multiple times, including wounds that pierced his heart, lung, and liver, according to the Sun-Times.

Their son Noe Jr.'s body was found upstairs, a few feet away from his sister, Herminia, whose body was slumped over an end table.

Full autopsy reports for Noe Jr., Herminia, and Leonardo have not yet been completed.

Police have not ruled out any possible motives in the case, but have yet to identify any suspects or persons of interest in the case. Detectives do not believe any of the victims was involved in criminal activity that directly led to the massacre.
