Man's Body Pulled From Lake Michigan

(CBS) -- A body was pulled from Lake Michigan near Hyde Park Sunday morning.

Crews pulled the body from the lake off Promontory Point. Chicago police say someone called 911 around 10 a.m. reporting a body floating in Lake Michigan between 54th and 59th streets.

Crews responded, including Chicago Fire Department's scuba team and the police department's marine team. The body was recovered after about a half hour later.

"I couldn't come into the park because it was like over 25 police cars fire trucks driving out of the park," said Ginger Mance. "Very concerned and then unfortunately I heard that they found a body."

Police say it appears the body had been in the water for an extended period of time and is now decomposed. Police say they have not been able to identify the body.
